Transmissions is dedicated to showcasing a diverse array of music that has profoundly inspired Cult Image, its merchandise offerings, and the music that I create under the name Experiments & Observations on Electricity.
Despite electronic music being my main musical love, I aim to create episodes that won’t just focus on the many genre’s that sit under the umbrella of electronica. Episodes will vary from themed, with shows based around the merchandise I shall be selling, to general shows with a mix of music. I hope you enjoy?
On November 17th 2023 Vince Clarke released his first solo album "Songs of Silence". For anyone expecting Erasure, Yazoo or Depeche Mode related music they were to be disappointed, certainly the album taster "The Lamentations of Jeremiah" offered a glimpse of what was to come.
When the album arrived it was a textured symphony of layered drones, electronic melodies, and voices, it was, in my view anyway, a masterpiece, and was my album of 2023. A year has moved on, and my view on the album hasn't changed.
Vince hasn't just banged out melodic 3 minute singles in his 40 plus year career, dance music, and more reflective pieces have also been released during this time. Hopefully in these 75 minutes I've skimmed the surface to what is, a truly exceptional musician and his discography.
I've really enjoyed pulling this together, and I hope you enjoy listening to it. I have realised something during the compiling, how did One Day by Clarke/Quinn not do better chart wise???
